Proposal for Environmental and Digital Transformation Panel: Peivand Shafti, Public Relations Manager of Bisotoun Steel Company (Shokri Group), proposed a special panel on environmental issues and digital transformation during the exhibition. She emphasized inviting prominent environmental experts to foster constructive interaction between the steel industry and environmental sectors. Shafti stated: “Public relations in the steel industry should play a more active role in changing public perceptions regarding the environmental impacts of this industry. We must demonstrate that steel is not only a consumer of energy and resources but can also be a producer of water and a supporter of the environment.”
Addressing Criticism: The meeting also tackled public and media criticisms concerning energy consumption and environmental effects of the steel industry. Managers stressed the need to strengthen media campaigns to inform the public accurately about the industry’s environmental achievements. Suggestions included closer collaboration with media outlets, increasing targeted content production, and highlighting the steel industry’s role in sustainable development.
Coordination of Events: Concerns were raised about the proliferation of exhibitions and conferences leading to reduced focus and effectiveness. Some managers recommended developing a cohesive calendar to prevent overlap and repetition of topics.
Localization Achievements: Reports indicated that over the past five editions of the National Steel Festival and Exhibition, approximately $1.7 billion in foreign exchange savings have been realized through localization efforts. The upcoming festival will continue to focus on localizing parts and equipment, reducing reliance on imports, with special attention to technological development and digital transformation.
Attracting New Audiences: Participants underscored the importance of engaging new audiences for the exhibition. Proposals included organizing technology tours, inviting startups and environmental activists, and encouraging major contractors to participate actively to enhance interactions.
The meeting concluded with a summary of proposals and the establishment of action plans. Specialized committees will be formed to follow up on resolutions, and detailed planning will be undertaken for the environmental panel and collaboration with knowledge-based companies.
The Sixth National Steel Festival and Exhibition presents a golden opportunity to showcase the steel industry’s role in strengthening the national economy, achieving environmental goals, and fostering constructive engagement with society.
Public relations departments, serving as the communication bridge between the steel industry and the public, will play a pivotal role in the success of this event
