According to SteelWorldReview news outlet, quoting Chilan, Dr. Bahram Sobhani, President of the Iranian Steel Producers Association, announced an unprecedented crisis in energy supply for the steel industry during his recent press conference.
He stated: “For the first time, electricity restrictions began as early as Farvardin 15 (April 3), and with only 10% of the required demand being allocated, industries are practically unable to continue production.”
Dr. Sobhani emphasized that this severe restriction not only halts production but also results in significant losses in raw materials, work-in-progress products, and damages to equipment.
This situation is a serious warning for the country’s strategic industries—especially the steel value chain—and highlights the urgent need to revise energy allocation policies.
