The Sixth National Steel Festival and Exhibition of Iran is being held from January 7 to January 9, 2025, at the Milad Tower Conference Center in Tehran. This event aims to promote localization, develop technology, and strengthen collaboration between the country’s steel industry and knowledge-based companies. It hosts producers and suppliers from the iron and steel supply chain.
Appreciation of Influential Figures
During the opening ceremony of the festival, influential figures in the development of technology and localization of the steel industry were honored. Among them was Sajjad Shiri, Production Manager of the Sponge Iron Plant at Bisotoun Steel Company, who was recognized for his significant role in localization and enhancing efficiency in this field. Additionally, Majid Abu’atiwi, Deputy Operations Manager of Hormozgan Steel Company, was acknowledged for his efforts in advancing technology within the steel supply chain.
The first day of the festival also became a platform for showcasing technological and innovative projects. Out of 159 submitted proposals, six were selected as top projects in the areas of energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and digital transformation. One of these projects was the “Monitoring the Quality of Steel Slabs Using an Intelligent Robot,” which was designed and implemented by knowledge-based companies.
At the festival, key issues such as energy imbalances and shortages of gas and electricity were discussed as major challenges facing the steel industry. Speakers emphasized the importance of investing in renewable energy and adopting modern technologies to overcome this crisis. Mohammad Yaser Tayebnia, CEO of Mobarakeh Steel, highlighted the company’s efforts in energy consumption optimization and called for greater government support for the steel industry.
Proposal for Establishing National Steel Day
During this event, the proposal to register January 13 as National Steel Day in the official national calendar was presented. According to Bahram Subhani, Chairman of the Board of the Iranian Steel Association, despite all the limitations, the steel industry has managed to achieve the goals of the 2025 Vision Document and deserves to have a special place in the national calendar.
The first day of this festival demonstrated that Iran’s steel industry, relying on domestic capabilities, collaboration with knowledge-based companies, and the use of modern technologies, is able to make significant strides toward progress and development despite existing challenges and limitations.
