Between 2000 and 2024, Asia has witnessed remarkable growth in crude steel production.
🔹 Over these 24 years, steel production in Asia has significantly increased, while other regions of the world have experienced a decline.
🔹 Crude steel production in Asia rose from 333 million tons to more than 1.387 billion tons—an increase of 1.06 billion tons or 317%.
🔹 In contrast, crude steel production in the rest of the world decreased by 18.6%, dropping from 498 million tons to 480 million tons.
🔹 In other words, over the past 24 years, Asia has accounted for more than half of the world’s annual steel production.
🔹 Asia’s share in global steel production rose from 39.6% in 2000 to 73.6% in 2024.
