The 21st edition of the global steelChallenge competition will be held in November 2026, and steel industry enthusiasts from Iran can also take part in this international competition.
This competition is organized by steeluniversity, the educational program of the World Steel Association (worldsteel), and this edition includes, for the first time, high school students, in addition to university students and industry professionals.
Participants manage the steel production process through steelmaking simulators, striving to produce the specified grade at the lowest cost and with the best performance. The regional stage of the competition begins on November 17, 2026, and participants have 24 hours to submit their results.
Iran is not on the list of countries barred from participating in this competition. According to the official rules of steelChallenge-21, only citizens and residents of the Russian Federation are prohibited from registering and participating in this edition. Participants are placed into one of five competition regions based on their country of residence, and Iran falls within the Asia–West region.
Registration Opens September 1
Registration for steelChallenge-21 opens on September 1, 2026. The registration fee is €14.99 for students and €29.99 for industry professionals.
This competition offers an opportunity for Iranian students and professionals to test their technical knowledge in an international competition, as well as to connect with steel industry experts and professionals worldwide. steelChallenge has so far had more than 30,000 participants around the world.
