The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Industries of the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade announced the prioritization of the revival of the Steel Headquarters in the ministry’s plans. Vojehollah Jafari, in a meeting with the board members and the secretariat of the Iranian Steel Producers Association, stated that this action is aimed at creating synergy between the different departments of the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade and active organizations in the steel chain.
According to Jafari, with the formation of specialized and technical working groups under this headquarters, efforts will be made to precisely identify the challenges in production, domestic market, and steel export chain, and to develop effective solutions to address them.
This meeting emphasized the key role of specialized associations and organizations in providing scientific and expert solutions to policymakers. Additionally, issues related to energy imbalance, export development, and market regulation were highlighted as the most important challenges facing the industry, and solutions for them were discussed.
According to statistics provided by the Iranian Steel Producers Association, the volume of steel and steel product exports reached 16 million and 519 thousand tons in the first seven months of the current year. The total value of exports from the iron and steel chain during this period has amounted to 3 billion and 643 million dollars.
Of this, the share of steel products is 2 million and 247 thousand tons, with an export value of 1 billion and 114 million dollars. These figures show a growth of 21% and 12%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the export of semi-finished steel, with a volume of 3.25 million tons and a value of 1.526 billion dollars, has accounted for a significant share of these figures.
The “Steel World Review” magazine believes that the revival of the Steel Headquarters and closer collaboration between the government and steel industry associations can be an effective step in identifying and addressing the challenges facing this industry, paving the way for production development and increasing the export share of this strategic chain.
